2018-2019 Designer of the Year: Universal Design

Key considerations were made considering that these homeowners are entering retirement and plan to age in place in their new home. There is level access to the exterior and the kitchen, living, dining, bedrooms and baths are all on the main level. All of these considerations provide more accessibility for the client and will help them age with ease.

This was a whole house renovation.  Since part of the budget was devoted to a new window and french doors, the designer needed to reign in other expenses while still achieving a high-end look. By grouping three black pendants over the island Nicole Yee created a strong focal point with little expense. 

On the bar area, money was saved on tile without sacrificing beauty with a mirrored backsplash - perfect for reflecting beautiful glass bottles. Nicole also opted for a gorgeous walnut bar-top to define the area, and warm up the space.
