2018-2019 Designer of the Year: Children's Rooms &. Nurseries
Winner: Kristi Hopper, Kristi Hopper Designs, Texas
The client wanted to convert a guest room into a nursery for the baby they planned to adopt. The couple wanted a baby, no matter the gender, so the designer made this space gender-neutral with a color palette of blues, gold, and greens.

The acrylic crib was the biggest challenge. This would be the first child for the clients. The clients could not be dissuaded that the crib itself and the cost were not practical for a baby. We did find a vendor for the crib and got it at a reasonable price. The cost of the crib was $3500 instead of $4200
1st Runner Up: Traci Connell, Traci Connell Interiors, Texas
This newly-wed client has two stepdaughters and a new baby girl who’s brand new nursery was top priority. It was imperative that her room must have the look of a luxury, while completely functional and livable at the same time.
Creating stations for rocking, changing baby, displaying her mementos and providing play space was achieved using detailed spacing by the designer. The designer selected a convertible crib in a soft gray and sourced am elegant dresser to use as a changing table.
