2020 DESIGNERS OF THE YEAR: Bedrooms $30,000 and Below

Winner: Bauer/Clifton Interiors

The client wanted a complete transformation of their 1980's owner's suite. The designer certainly delivered with this classic yet rustic space. The owners also wanted to maximize their storage space while maintaining a seamless finish to the room.

The room now serves as a serene retreat in the family's lake house. The space features both refined and rustic finishes, such as the distressed hardwood flooring and driftwood stained furnishings. Finding the balance between the client's desire for a classic style within the rustic theme of the lake home proposed somewhat of a challenge for the designer. By incorporating multiple different finishes, textures, and artwork, the designer was able to satisfy the owner's request and reconcile the style of the bedroom with its setting.

1st Runner Up: KDL Interior Design

The client wanted to update the bedroom to have a cozy feel, yet still fit in with their modern style. It was also important to maintain a light and airy feel in the room, and leave the waterfront views unobstructed.

Warm and neutral bedding and custom embroidered window treatments provide a cozy and peaceful monochrome feel to the room. Additionally, the plush rug, woven Abaca bed, and sandblasted oak nightstands add visual interest to the space.

The tall ceiling presented a challenge to the designer. This issue was met by unifying the design of the ceiling with the room design by strategically placing furniture pieces.
